Hello my name is David V. Hurst and I am originally from the
great State of Indiana. One of my parents came from Arkansas and the
other from Kentucky. My wife is from Washington. One
daughter is from Texas, another from Mississippi and two from Virginia.
We have learned to adapt and to adopt to many wonderful areas of the
country; including our home now, in Kentucky. Therefore, I proudly
call my self a "Wildcat" of Kentucky.
I began my college life training in Aeronautical fields.
I trained as a pilot and enjoyed Air force ROTC. However, the training
I had as a boy from my parents concerning duty to God became more and more
my passion. It was not long before my conscience forced me to give
full time efforts to the cause of Christ. This I have done now,
for almost 28 years.
It is said there are two important days in a man's life; the
day he is born and the day he finds out "why" he is born.
This is the express reason that God has given us His Bible. In our
youth, it is is easy to adopt the principles one is taught as a child
(from parents or guardians);
most of us do. That is, we are molded by these principles (whether right
or wrong) that have been given to us. But as we get older, it is
important for each of us to question and consider what we have accepted in
light of a Creator.
Therefore, my faith and beliefs are not grounded in the
faiths and beliefs (or superstitions) of another, even parents. They
are based upon the teachings of the Bible, the spiritual truths of God.
And in my mind, there are not just "two" important days in a man's life; but
three. The third great day is the day a man dies; for that is
the day that his fate is sealed between he and his God. That day
will issue him into an eternal destiny.
At death, we simply leave the body behind and go to an
eternal environment (such is hard for us to fathom). The point
is that this life is but a "test" period or testing ground and either we
make preparations to live with God or we fail and will die without Him.
And as great a tragedy of eternal existence without God may be, it's worse
when we understand that it is also an existence of eternal torment.
It has been my aim and hope for these many years to find
truth and to live it in my life that I may die with God. I want
to be with those faithful of old and those whom I have known who have gone
before me. It is my aim
and goal to help others do the same; hence this website.
1 Cor 1:21 reads "....it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching
to save them that believe."
What we must remember is that it is by the foolishness of preaching and
not the preaching of foolishness.
Preaching - I love preaching and everything about it! Yes, there
are "down" sides, but the rewards are so exceedingly far above these;
that there is no fair
comparison between them. If I can be of help to just one person, what more
could I want?
God gave us this world to enjoy. He gave us blessings
to enjoy; but we can only be happy if we chase the Giver not His gifts.
In truth, Paul said of the Christian's life (1 Cor 3:21-23), 21 Therefore
let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; (let us give God all
glory in what do in this world-dvh) 22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas,
(don't get stuck on any man, preacher or otherwise--dvh) or the world,
or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; (it
is the Christian who really understands the answer to life's purpose; and
therefore can truly enjoy what God has given us--dvh) 23 And ye are
Christ's; and Christ is God's. (And may we say with Paul-- Amen!-dvh).
May you find happiness in seeking out God's truths on how to glorify Him.

My family and I have always enjoyed pets (perhaps,
I
should say zoos) and with four daughters, we have had our share.
Particularly we have enjoyed the breed of dog known as the American Bull
Dog. It seems to be just what God intended a "man's best friend"
to be; faithful. Nevertheless, my point is that our lives on
earth are not just involved totally in "spiritual" things. God has
given us many blessings. Below you may find some links or other
interests, which may not be of great spiritual value, but they may provide
wholesome enjoyment.
